WINTERFAIR BRINGS HOLIDAY CHEER TO HARTFORD & NEW HAVEN
THE HOLIDAY MARKET DELIVERS THE FESTIVE SPIRIT TO BOTH UNION STATIONS
It’s time! Winterfair, Connecticut’s favorite holiday market, is returning to Hartford’s Union Station, while making its debut in New Haven this year. Both historic train stations will be filled with festive cheer and over 200 small businesses during a series of weekend markets.
Starting on November 29, Small Business Saturday, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Connecticut’s creativity and holiday magic, while finding the perfect gift as both Union Stations will feature a rotating mix of locally-owned businesses from across the city and state. While Winterfair Hartford is in its fourth season, the charming market arrives for the first time in New Haven’s Union Station.
The second floor of the landmark location will be outfitted with over 30 local makers and entrepreneurs, showcasing New Haven’s rich culture and community. “Winterfair brings the magic of the season to our beautifully decorated historic Union Station while highlighting New Haven's makers, craftspeople, artists and the small businesses that fuel New Haven’s creative economy. It’s a vibrant celebration of local talent, diverse goods and the power of keeping holiday spending right here in our community, " Cathy R. Graves, the Deputy Director Economic Development for the City of New Haven shares. Winterfair’s expansion into New Haven is made possible with help from the City of New Haven’s Small Business Resource Center. The collaboration underscores the city’s commitment to supporting and amplifying small business opportunities and community-based economic development, while encouraging inclusive growth.
As one of the busiest Amtrak train stations in the country, Winterfair gives both locals and lucky commuters the unique chance to experience all that New Haven has to offer. More than just a mode of transportation, the train stations connect the cities of Connecticut together, allowing us to experience and share our vast and vibrant culture. Produced by Breakfast Lunch & Dinner, “Winterfair has always been about bringing people together and supporting local business,” Jeffrey Devereux, co-founder of the Hartford-based company expresses. “We’re thrilled to bring that same energy to New Haven — a city with incredible creative talent and community spirit. Winterfair has blossomed the last couple of years as a part of Hartford’s holiday spirit and as an important support for small business. Expanding to New Haven lets us celebrate Connecticut’s entrepreneurial and creative community on a larger stage and continue to expand the state’s reputation as a fantastic place for the holiday season for residents and visitors alike.”
Not only will guests be able to shop from a merry myriad of local-owned businesses, but Winterfair will also feature a hot cocoa booth and of course, a visit from Santa.
Winterfair runs Saturdays and Sundays, 11 AM–4 PM, from November 29 through December 21.
(New Haven’s Winterfair will be closed December 7 for a previously scheduled charity event.)
