Born from a lineage rooted in craftsmanship and esoteric elegance, Amalga is the latest evolution in storytelling through adornment. Drawing from the legacy of Castro NYC—a name synonymous with ornate, sculptural design and spiritual symbolism—Amalga reimagines that same sophistication through a lens that is more accessible, familiar, and holistic. Founded by SK Castro, child of the late master jeweler Terry Castro, the brand carries forward a tradition steeped in ritual and reverence while inviting a new generation to engage with jewelry not just as fashion, but as spiritual artifact.

In collaboration with Tajon-Marquel, SK is carving out a new path that honors their father’s visionary approach while introducing their own imprint on contemporary jewelry. Together, they explore how design can channel energy, history, and identity—expanding what fine jewelry can represent. In a time where self-expression often centers on accessories, Amalga creates relics that bridge past and present, drawing inspiration from ancestral symbology, solar worship, and the metaphysical arts.

The debut pendant—now available at The CAF—features a hand-enameled design set in .925 sterling silver, suspended from an 18-inch box chain with a 2 mm width. Measuring 28 × 23 mm, each pendant is individually hand-painted and kiln-fired, resulting in subtle variations that make every piece unique. The work is handmade in New York, reflecting a commitment to intentionality and artisanal process that lies at the heart of Amalga’s mission.

To introduce the collection, CAF buyer and contributor Joshua J. Jenkins captured an editorial on a recent trip to Lisbon, assembling a cast of creators across disciplines—each bringing their own form of ritual and resonance to the project. The result is a visual and spiritual study of what it means to wear intention. Amalga is more than ornamentation; it is a reminder, a marker, a tool—for those ready to see and be seen.
