AN A-TYPICAL DATING EVENT MEANT TO FOSTER MEANINGFUL CONNECTION

Founded by Myla Rae, a speech & language pathologist who noticed a significant gap in the in-person dating scene after her move from the West to the East Coast.

Dating apps and social media have taken over the dating market, allowing little to no room for genuine interaction. Curated social media feeds and community built, dating profiles run rampant, while real, authentic connection with one another dissipates. It’s rough out here, so she stepped up and created something real, an opportunity.

It seems like everyone’s afraid to be themselves.

The event runs from 4 to 10 PM Saturday, May 24, at “The Building Complex” in West Haven. Tickets include a complimentary drink along with a facilitated dating game and a talent competition.

The event falls against a black and white theme, and creates the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for a meet-cute scenario. Maybe you’ll lock eyes with the person performing, and it’ll all unfold from there (no? too corny?).

A willingness to put oneself out there opens you up to all the possibilities, and here’s your chance.

First Impressions allow attendees to get to know fellow community members while hosting activities and vendors, from tattoo artists to tarot readings.

Although the event was made to connect singles, it’s not exclusive to them. Attendees can bring friends and are offered color-coded wristbands based on relationship status to avoid confusion.
