FROM RUN CLUBS TO YOGA IN THE PARK

Spring is in full swing. With steadily rising temps, many of us are abandoning cubicles for courtyards in the hopes of soaking up the sun. Skip scrolling on your phone as your after work activity and savor the spring season by getting up, getting out and getting active.

Lucky for you, we’ve gathered a bounty of activities to get you moving. There are a myriad of run clubs in different cities for those who want to hit the pavement and work up a sweat. Not to mention, yoga in the park and relaxing saunas for a more chill outdoors activity. More than just exercise, embarking on a new spring hobby can also expand your social circle and help you build community while you build muscle.

EIGHTSIXGO

Based in the capital of Connecticut, EightSixGo is a Hartford-based running club built around inclusivity and community. EightSixGo is geared towards all levels and welcomes both runners and walkers, creating a judgement-free environment for everyone and anyone who wants to get out and active. EightSixGo meets every Tuesday at 6pm in Bushnell Park.

860 CRUISERS RUN CLUB

For those in New Britain, 860 Cruisers welcomes runners and walkers at Walnut Hill Park. Starting bright and early at 6am on Wednesdays, 860 Cruisers kicks off on May 6th with coffee at Froth Cafe to add a caffeine boost to that post-runners’ high.

AMID TERRAIN

Founded by Tyrell Henderson, Amid Terrain is a community hike group that allows folks to immerse themselves in nature while building community. Past group hikes have brought explorers to Lion’s Head Trail for a three day trek in the woods. A group hike for Summer 2026 is in the works, so stay tuned if you’re interested in a meeting in the mountains. 

CHULAS GONE ACTIVE

Wellness spaces can sometimes have a stigma for elitism, attracting a certain demographic that is active for the aesthetics. Chulas Gone Active centers Latinas, creating a safe space for all women to experience culture, community and movement together.

CITA PARK

While CITA Park is known for its beer gardens and vibrant events, Change In The Air also features a wood-fired sauna for those who want to take a more zen approach to wellness. Promoting relaxation and rejuvenation, you can either join an event like guided sauna rituals or book a private session until May.

MOOR HIKES CT

Moor Hikes CT is a woman-led BIPOC centered community group based in New England. The collective is specifically designed to encourage people of color to foster and renew their relationships with nature in a safe and affirming environment. If you enjoying indulging in greenery of all sorts, Moor Hikes is hosting Blem, a cannabis hike on April 19.

Not A Runner Run Club is for reluctant runners, perfect if your’re trying to shed your sedentary ways for spring. Based in New Haven, Not A Runner Run Club starts on Monday, April 20th at 6:30pm.

YOGA IN OUR CITY

Spread throughout the state, Yoga In Our City offers free yoga classes in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven and Waterbury. Led by certified teachers, classes are open to participants of all ages, skill levels, body types and abilities.
