FUNNYBONE RECORDS AND KNOWHERE PRESENT: Nino Soberon, Annie Blech, Nina Ryser

LIKE A TRIP OF NOSTALGIA AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PRESS START!

FunnyBone Records and Knowhere held a show in September featuring some very fantastic musicians in a realm of their own! The night was truly an adventure to behold. Each musician brought a new worldly tune to provide the musical atmosphere for what I perceived as a video game like the ones I would play in my childhood. Bringing me right back to sitting on long car rides with my headphones in getting lost to the world in the palm of my hand.

Nino Soberon.

As the crickets are chirping in the background almost adding an atmosphere essence carried by the subtly plucked strings.

Merging and melting between macabre and mysterious. Mystifying.

To the ears and to the senses.

Almost a nature scene seen with ears.

Enticing the imagination.

I imagine at least with the first number.

An underwater play.

Perhaps a fish swimming with curiosity.

Into ever deeper waters.

I wonder what he’ll find.

And where we’ll find ourselves.

After the crickets chirp alone.

But for now, this adventure awaits.

Annie Blech.

For me the sound of death.

Not just chaos.

Or a guide to your path’s end.

But perhaps, a combination of the two.

Not to sound too macabre.

Out of touch.

Or place.

And of course not without appreciation.

But let’s go into.

The depths.

Of death.

Something some don’t understand.

Something some can’t come to terms with.

Something some don’t want to think about, wish upon themselves or wonder simply what if.

The song as it goes on.

Just like the universe as it shuffles and swirls.

Goes beyond our Comprehension.

But to say this simply.

Imagination.

Of sound.

In a new direction.

Perhaps a better phrase.

Avant guard.

Something so beyond the current cultural canon.

That only the creator themselves.

Can understand.

And see the symphony.

In semitones.

The reach may be too far for me.

But damn.

Do I like the purpose.

Of the poetry.

Something about not going gentle. Into that night.

And Annie Blech.

Does just that.

And I am even more so.

Inspired.

Nina Ryser.

A journey through a hidden forest.

Light shining through fall-colored leaves.

The start of going away from home.

Seems the theme of tonight has been adventures in different planes.

And this one would be wooded.

More like ground as the sound seeps though.

A four-wheel drive engine pushes through as I imagine mountains and movement.

Almost like the feeling of a coming-of-age film.

The start.

Of the adventure.

The transition from woods to mountains.

The wide open range.

A whole new scene.

Uncovered.

No longer in the leaves.

But open air.

Feels like a nostalgic 8-bit adventure.

Traveling into the woods

The mountains.

The dungeons.

The astral plane.

The grasslands.

A whole trip that feels nostalgic to the kid inside of you.

And the kid in me asked me not to write.

But simply reminisce.

Remember sliding in the cartridge or booting up the computer.

And adventuring into a whole new world.

Just by pressing start.
