New Deck to Honor CT’s own, Max maffucci

For those who did not have the privilege of meeting before his untimely passing, Max Maffucci was a key puzzle piece in the Connecticut skate and streetwear ecosystem. The general public would recognize him as the designer behind PRKR, a east coast based streetwear brand that's long been part of The CAF’s roster, but to his friends and peers, he was a champion and a multi-hyphenate individual. His passing in September of 2024 was a tough blow for all of us, but in the time since, friends and collaborators have found ways to keep his work, and his name, present.
Max had a habit of finding unconventional ways to place his work between commissioned graphics, ideas for PRKR and general crafted art pieces that felt more like a personal reference than work for a gallery. As an opportunity to commemorate Max, his brother Al Maffucci collected one of his pieces in the form of a glass bottle he hand painted and sketched.

Carrying his signature "Faces" illustration, a character he first introduced during the inception of his brand in 2019, and kept bringing back throughout PRKR's run. The graphic was reprised into a sketch on a painted white strip while engraving, “No message in a bottle....” The deck was produced with support from our friend Ethan Giorgetti, owner of local skate brand Social Hour. Zack, another close friend, shot a photo of that bottle, with "Max Maffucci Forever" scripted beneath the portrait.
Each deck will be sold for is $80, and every dollar goes to the St. Baldrick's Max Maffucci Cancer Research Fund. They'll be available to buy in person this Saturday 10/3, paired with limited deadstock PRKR caps during a one time pop-up at New Haven retailer, Plush. In addition to the CAF hosted event will be a coffee bar provided by MrCatsCoffee Co, and DJ sets from the collective Future Royalty. More Details on the pop-up can be found here.
