The CAF Reimagines the Classic PF Flyers' Sneaker, the "Affogato" Windjammers.

THE CAF CELEBRATES FIRST EVER SNEAKER RELEASE.

2023 has been quite a fruitful year for The Caf as we reach our first birthday. We decided that it’s time we cooked up something special for our customers. With pleasure, we are excited to announce our first-ever shoe release the PF. Flyers “Affogato” Windjammers.

The iconic American shoe company PF Flyers has a long, illustrious history that stretches back to the late 1930s. Hyman "Hymie" Liberman established the business in 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts. The initials "PF" in "PF Flyers" stand for "Posture Foundation," which emphasizes the brand's focus on creating supportive footwear that is also comfortable.

PF Flyers were a popular choice of footwear for both athletics and daily use in the 1940s and 1950s. During this time, the brand grew to be associated with American sports and leisure culture. A key turning point in the history of PF Flyers occurred in 1955 when the company teamed up with the then NBA powerhouse Boston Celtics. The collaboration boosted PF Flyers' standing as a high-performance sports shoe. Bob Cousy, the first superstar of basketball and a player for the Boston Celtics, made history with the inaugural partnership between a professional athlete and a footwear company when he donned PF Flyers. This collaboration led to a series of legendary basketball shoe designs that continue to shape the category trends even today.

Benny the Jet, also known as Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez, the iconic character from the movie Sandlot, played a significant role in the shoe's history by wearing PF Flyers in the film. Ever since then, the PF Flyers sneakers featured in The Sandlot have become one of the most widely recognized and memorable sneakers in the history of cinema.

Originally released back in 1968, the Windjammer is a PF classic. Reintroduced as a new silhouette in their Made in USA collection, the Windjammer features a premium running shoe insert providing superior cushioning.

The PF Flyer Windjammer silhouette received a striking update with a color scheme inspired by the Italian espresso dessert, giving it a bold and eye-catching appearance. The tan upper serves as a vibrant base, accentuated by white exposed stitchings neighboring it, thanks to Joseph “JD” Dimino's coffee-dyed treatment. This treatment contributes to the shoe's overall design, with its lively brown and green hues extended to elements like the tongue labels and heel branding. Moreover, the tongue tags proudly display phrases such as "Affogato al Caffe" and our regular catchphrases like "IM NOT TAKEOUT," aligning with our brand themes. The design is further complemented by our signature "French Vanilla" rope laces.

With that being said, we are excited to state that our new the PF. Flyers “Affogato” Windjammers Is now available for online and in-store from starting Wednesday at noon.
