ELY CENTER OF CONTEMPORARY ART TURNS 10

Celebrate the New Haven art fixture at its10th Anniversary Benefit Gala.

A local treasure of innovative art and culture, the Ely Center for Contemporary Art is ringing in its10th year with its anniversary benefit gala on Saturday, April 26. To honor a full decade of championing artists and creating a safe space for creative minds, the Ely Center will be holding a live auction including works by renowned 20th century artists Anni and Josef Albers, as well as Hartford-based photographer Ellen Carey, ceramicist Roberto Lugo and Ghanian visual artist Clara Nartey. The evening will also feature a silent auction allowing attendees to buy work throughout the night and features artists such as Ely Center Gallery Director Aimée Burg, visual artist Sok Song, mixed media artist Helen Kauder and others. Partygoers will also be treated to live music by St.Luke’s Steel Band, an immersive aluminum origami demo workshop with Sok Song, as well as a nostalgic photo-booth from Statement Sets

An after-party follows the more formal gala from 8-10pm and will be hosted by Weird Music Night curator John O'Donnell. Guests will be treated to an evening of calypso and bossa nova spun as well as mesmerizing video synths by video artist and mathematician Andrei Jay.

Tickets for the Ely Center’s 10th anniversary benefit gala are $125. The Young Artist ticket is available for purchase for $85. All tickets include entry to the after party.
